Senior QA Automation Engineer
Our software runs live restaurants, payment terminals and enterprise platforms — the kind of product where a defect shows up as a queue at a counter on a Saturday night, not as a line in a report. We're looking for an engineer with a decade behind them who owns quality end to end: designs the automation, breaks the product on real devices and real hardware, and holds the line on what ships.
What you'll do
- Own the test strategy across our POS, mobile apps, web platforms and APIs — what gets automated, what stays exploratory, and what blocks a release.
- Build and maintain automation suites: Appium for Android/iOS apps, Playwright or Cypress for web, and API-level suites for the backend.
- Wire those suites into CI so every pull request runs them — and keep them fast and stable enough that a red build is always believed.
- Test what a simulator cannot: thermal printers, cash drawers, card terminals (PAX, SUNMI, Verifone), offline-first billing and sync-queue recovery.
- Design the edge-case matrix for payments and offline behaviour — connection lost mid-transaction, duplicate submissions, clock skew, partial sync, multi-outlet data.
- Run regression, performance and load passes ahead of major releases, and report defects with reproducible steps, logs and evidence developers can act on immediately.
- Raise the team's testability bar: review features for how they will be verified, and mentor junior QA as the practice grows.
What you bring
- 10+ years in software quality assurance, including at least four leading automation for mobile and/or web products.
- Deep hands-on experience with Appium and at least one modern web automation framework (Playwright, Cypress or Selenium).
- Strong API testing skills (Postman, REST Assured or equivalent), and enough SQL to verify what actually landed in the database.
- Real programming ability in JavaScript/TypeScript, Java or Python — you write maintainable test code, not disposable scripts.
- Experience integrating test suites into CI/CD (GitHub Actions, Jenkins or similar), including reporting and flake management.
- Structured test design: risk-based prioritisation, boundary analysis, and clear written defect reports.
- The instinct to ask “what happens when this fails?” before asking “does this work?”
Bonus points
- POS, payments or fintech testing experience — EMV flows, PCI-DSS environments, reconciliation.
- Managing a physical device lab, or Android/iOS store release processes.
- Performance testing with JMeter or k6, and basic security testing exposure.
- Experience testing AR/VR, 3D or hardware-integrated applications.
